Who should do this course

Learners who have had limited exposure to information technology, learners who had no opportunity to achieve this qualification during the final years of secondary school, migrants or refugees with limited exposure to information technology (after Cert I) or people in the workplace who want to reinforce or formalise their on the job skills with a qualification This qualification provides the foundation ICT skills and knowledge for an individual to be an effective ICT user or employee.


What is the purpose of the learning program?

The qualification provides foundation general computing and employment skills that enable participation in an information technology environment in any industry. The Certificate II in Information Technology equips you with comprehensive skills and knowledge to use computers in the workplace and also provides you with a sound understanding of computer concepts. You will also learn how to complete common office tasks using microcomputers and common Microsoft Office applications. Certificate II in Information Technology graduates can look forward to careers in computer sales, data entry operations, word processing and computer systems support or as an office assistant or to work in records management at a junior level.

Prerequisites

A number of units within this qualification have prerequisites. These are detailed as follows:

  • ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer
  • ICAU2231B Use computer operating system
Also, a basic level of English is important.
